The vortal (as jakilinux.org) first appeared in the Internet at the end of 2004. Well, it was a home page actually at first, with some extras like the distro quiz). The original content was available in two languages: Polish and English.

Later on, more and more content appeared on the site, including the descriptions of all major Linux and BSD flavours, a feature comparison table and lots of articles and howtos for newbies. The English version of the vortal was abandoned in September 2005, after migration of the content to the blogging engine – WordPress.

We have decided to reactivate the English version and rename it to something that an English speaker could pronounce – this is how PolishLinux.org appeared. Lots of content has been already translated to English. The rest will be hopefully finished soon. Please visit the cooperation site if you would like to help translating, writing new content or developing the vortal.
