FVWM Crystal and UTF-8
[ Tuesday, 7 March 2006, michuk ]
If you like the nice transparent FVWM-Crystal theme for the popular FVWM window manager, but you still want to use UTF-8 as your major encoding, you probably have encountered a major problem :). Thus, with the latest version of Crystal (3.0.3), we publish a patch repairing (masking) this unwilling behavior.
Short instruction how to apply the patch:
- First we have to download the latest Crystal:
wget http://download.gna.org/fvwm-crystal/3.0.3/fvwm-crystal-3.0.3.tar.gz - Then download the patch:
wget http://jakilinux.org/fvwm-crystal/fvwm_crystal_3_0_3_utf_8.patch - Unpack the Crystal archive:
tar xvzf fvwm-crystal-3.0.3.tar.gz - And apply the patch which is as easy as:
cat fvwm_crystal_3_0_3_utf_8.patch | patch -p0
And here you are. The rest is identical with a normal installation. You can read about it on the project’s webpage.
