So, when criticizing Microsoft, do it with fairness. Remember, even villains have mothers.

Given what we have seen already, I wouldn't be surprised if they had sold their mothers in exchange for more chairs at ISO resolution meetings.

Microsoft is a two world business. One world is marketing, where the requirement is to sell Microsoft products and be the primary supplier. At the same time, to destroy the competition using whatever legal means possible.

The other side of the business world, or coin, is the technical one, where Microsoft Engineers and Technical people strive to produce the best product possible with the constraints and with their vision of the future.

So, when reviewing Microsoft, look beyond the Marketing interface to the highly talented individuals who work there writing the software that linux tries to compete against.

This competition is good.

If there was only linux, linux would be dead, as the competition between developers would not bring out the creativeness. With no creativeness, there would be no progress.
We develop products or software using ideas from creative people. With ideas and with some development skills, these products come to market. What happens when it reaches the "linux" market place, is that hackers like myself can tweak the code, add a little nice-to-have functionality, and make that product really outstanding.
