About author: I consider myself a nerd. I use Vista for my day-to-day job, but it's not that exciting as hacking open source systems in the nights. I'm a fan of free software movement and an avid user of Ubuntu. I'm very excited about its ability to change the face of computer software as we know it. That said, it's even cooler when it comes from my mouth, as I've spent 3-4 years volunteering for Microsoft and animating their programs for students at my university. I've even spent 3 months in their campus, looking at what's behind the gates (no pun intended). This was a very valuable experience - one that taught me that "bazaar" is superior to the "cathedral", and that our friends, end users, really feel better with the "bazaar" model of software. When it comes to my work, I'm not afraid of .NET and Enterprise heavy lifting, but personally I adore Python for it's flexibility and power. I think that programming is a form of art - one that needs careful balance between creating usable things and creating beautiful things.
