I’ve already written two Pardus reviews — 2007 Beta 2 and 2007.1. So it’s time for a review of 2007.2 Caracal release. In this article I will focus on the key changes and my personal thoughts concerning this interesting distribution.

I’ve already had the pleasure of testing Pardus once and it made a good impression on me. Recently the new edition, Pardus 2007.1, came out and I’ve decided to try both the LiveCD and the installation versions. This edition is almost fabulous, but „almost” makes a big difference which we are going to elaborate on a bit later.

Pardus is a Turkish distribution that comes with KDE as the default desktop. It is however not just another pack of known open source apps. Pardus comes with its own, original GUI system installer, a package management system — PISI and system settings applet — TASMA, as well as a few additional goods.
