Well ... it looks polished. But it's remains just a clone of Windows Explorer.

I never liked one-window file managers anyway, and I'm still (after 10 years) waiting for a file manager that's as good as Norton Commander in a commandline environment, or as good (as in quick, responsive and faultless) as Total Commander under MS Windows.

Perhaps one day ...

1. I don't like terminal window disappearing. It would be better if this feature can enabled/disabled. konqueror just started konsole and this is what I like.

2. Dolphin does not have an option to change external media mounting options. konqueror could do that for selected volume IDs, though it would be better if one could configure global settings for most of mounted media and do some tune-up for selected volume IDs.

Thanks for the nice article.
When Dolphin was first introduced I just couldn't imagine it being as good and powerful as Konqueror that I love so much and even less, replacing konqueror with it, but Dolphin has proven to be such a great file-manager that I even stopped using Konqueror!

Like Koko said, it's powerful, flexible, easy to use, beautiful and it's fun using Dolphin.
Lot's of praise and respect to the KDE developers :)

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for but in the latest SVN the devs have introduced an icon in the panel when you copy or move a file. This icon has a progress bar and shows a few information. You can even pause or stop the copy or move.
I think that it's stll in the developing process and will eventually overtrump whatever Vista has to offer.
Don't forget that KDE 4 is an ongoing developing process.

I would have like to see the different windows when you trigger a file copy or a file move. I like particularly what vista shows in this area. You can click on "details" and new information appear in the expanded window. You can find the number of files remaining, the estimated time and the average speed. I find it a quite useful optional feature.

Yeah, you have to admit that Dolphin is really powerful and flexible application and furthermore easy to use! It just fun to use it :) KDE4 has really better usability in some areas.
