Oh boy, something I looked for really, really long. Now, on the other hand I have to wait for KDE4.2 ;-) Anyway, thank you for amazing work.

Fonts on this screenshot are ugly! Wake up, we are in 2008, how will someone want to switch to something that looks that bad?!

[OT] The software is great, but... can't you use a decent font when taking screenshots... if I didn't know freetype strengths I'd think KDE fonts suck.

This looks really great. Integration of package-management and package-awareness in KDE would be great. For people moving to Linux from windows package management is a big draw but also a big barrier.

Good interview, I just thought of packagekit as a common front-end before but the KDE integration thing really changes my perspective.

How do you deal with the differences in package managers?

E.g.: Different ways of specifying repositories, differences in package names (i.e. do you automatically install nvidia-glx-new or xorg-nvidia or whatever) & different conflict resolution methods.

Also apt has been missing an 'apt-get install *.deb' option forever! It's about time someone added it...

Hi chad
I don't know anything about how the panel works, but implementing it using packagekit's functions is quite easy. So hopefully we'll see that feature soon :)

Cheers

I definitely like Daniel's idea about right clicking and app in the menu and being able to uninstall it. I've thought that would be a great feature because I usually get reminded that an app needs to be uninstalled when I'm using the menu anyway. Hopefully we'll see that come to fruition.
