It’s obvious from reading the comments that a great deal of the rehetoric being spewed is by people that just want to stir up controversy. This review is about what the author experienced when she installed Mandriva. It is not meant to be the difinitive Mandriva review. All the mean spirited things being said back and forth aren’t useful in any way, shape or form. There’s an old saying; It’s better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt! Remember that the next time you decide to criticize someone who is simply trying to share “their” experiences….

It would be VERY helpful to know what hardware the reviewer is running!!! Without this information, the information MAY be somewhat helpful, but not that much!

When people post, weather it works great or there are a few bugs, it is ONLY helpful if we know what hardware you are using! Without this info, all we know is that ther is some hardware config out there that MAY have some problems! I, for one, would like to know what hardware is having issues and what hardware is working great!

PLEASE include MB brand and model #, CPU, sounds, video and/or TV cards, printer(s), cameras(if applicable - as in one made for use only on Winblows), USB devices, paralell devices (again, manufacturer and model #!)

Thanks to all who put input here and elsewhere! It is VERY helpful to those of us looking to change or upgrade operating systems!

I’ll likely keep a Winblows partition, as I *do* have an awesome old digital camera that is perfect for web shots and a print/scan/FAX that I’m used to, although will be looking at what works with others on LINUX best before I shop, as I like the all-in-one as it saves space!!!

Thanks to everyone for their input! It’s helpful, although knowing what hardware you are running is crucial to understanding what exactly is not working!

Also, it’s good to know what manufacturers are making LINUX-friendly hardware and supporting them as well!

Gender is irrelevant and your choice to comment on it is odd but then you arent giving much info as to ‘why’ either. Your attitude therefore could be described as prehistoric. Without claification we presume your intent is hostole and that your ‘woman’ gets drug by her hair when you have certain ‘expectations’ ,- clearly since your view of women is of the form ‘inferior’ to men ? :0

What an attitude to have in this year 2008….did you just dethaw from arctic ice or something ? ;))

Are you using RW media , if so try -R instead , they are alot more reliable typically.

he was not mean, he simply stated the facts as he saw them due to not having any problems. THe author gives no information as to ‘why’ his writer did not work which he should have no does he say if he tried to resolve it on the forums or IRC. Its you that has your reaction in hyper drive, come back to sublight speeed and chill a bit you might live longer
