Friendly “Help me choose a distro!” forum

[ Wednesday, 6 September 2006, michuk ]

A new online forum has been created on nuxified.org devoted to helping new GNU/Linux users choose their first distribution. As fas as I know, it’s the first anly only online online forum when you can ask a question “Which distro should I pick?” without getting bashed.

Nuxified forums are know for their friendliness towards new Linux users, as well as their devotion to the free software philosophy. Moreover, there are no aggresive advertisements on Nuxified, making it even a better place for all GNU/Linux lovers.

One of the forum rules states “please don’t abruptly throw RTFM posts at new users”. And this is actually a common practice. Good to know such places actually exist :)

So, after checking out the distro chooser and comparing the features of common Linux distros, the new forum can be the right place to go to clarify your doubts concerning the distro you should pick.

Just remember to always describe your requirements in detail, such as whether you are a Windows power-user or just started off with computing, whether you want to learn a lot or just use the OS, etc. This will certainly increase the chances to get an accurate answer fast.
