New vortal BETA

[ niedziela, 18 Czerwiec 2006, michuk ]

Hello all! This is a public beta of the new Linux vortal for newbie users. Well, it’s actually not as new as it seems. The original version, in Polish, has been available since year and a half. Now we decided to bring the best Polish newbie Linux vortal to the English speaking users as well…

So here it is. The translation is still in progress, so don’t worry if you see some text in Polish. It will hopefully be translated soon. The layout will change thoroughly as well and so will the name of the vortal.

Anyway, you can already help us, especially with writing articles about the popular GNU/Linux applications, like GIMP, Amarok, Totem, etc. We plan to have a complete guide for new users covering all the things a newbie should know, like descriptions of Linux distros and popular Linux apps, information of choosing, installing and configuring Linux on desktop.

If you want to help, please e-mail me at: michuk@jakilinux.org and we can talk about the details. Since the vortal gets some money from Google (adsense program) we can also pay small amounts of money for articles (if they’re good enough).

Any feedback is very welcome so we are awaiting it even in early stages of development!

Vortal = vertical portal, which means it just concentrates on one topic (GNU/Linux and FOSS).
