Review: Mesk Audio Player 0.2.1

There are numerous audio players designed especially for GNOME. However, the problem lays in quality rather than quantity. While looking for a Foobar clone I have found Mesk audio player and took a deeper look at it. Here is what I found out.

PolishLinux recovered after being slashdotted

As you may know, we’ve been slashdotted. It seems like the Slashdot effect is much harder to handle than the digg effect. As a temporary solution, I deactivated all PolishLinux feeds, as it seems they were responsible for the high load of MySQL. Update: RSS is back now.
FVWM-Crystal 3.0.4 — speed and transparency

FVWM-Crystal is an eye-candy, functional and ultra-fast desktop environment for GNU/Linux, based on FVWM. Crystal can be used even on very old machines, thus it is a noticeable alternative to popular desktop choices like XFCE or Fluxbox.

Although most modern laptops nowadays tend to scare people off with an ugly “Designed for Windows XP” mark, it does not mean that alternative operating systems cannot be installed and function equally well. The article describes the common issues with GNU/Linux on laptops and busts a few myths as well.
